19-year-old. And then, despite a rankings gap of 70 places, Aleksandr Nedovyesov upset world No. 41 Nick Kyrgios 76 67 76 64 to put the visitors just one win away from the last four. Australia had only ever come back once from 2-0 down in the Davis Cup, against USA in the 1939 final. Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Groth gave the home fans hope that it could happen again 76 years later with a 64 76 62 victory against Nedovyesov and Andrey Golubev in the doubles. It also gave Australian captain Wally Masur plenty to ponder as he considered making a change for Sunday's reverse singles rubbers. Groth was brought in to replace Kyrgios and duly delivered with a 63 76 46 76 victory against Kukushkin to give Hewitt, who was substituted in for Kokkinakis, the chance to complete a famous comeback. In what was the first time the 34-year-old had won a deciding fifth rubber, he beat Nedovyesov 76 62 63 to seal a 3-2 win and take Australia into the semifinals for the first time since 2006. Conditions were not so quick as the grass of London and Darwin in Buenos Aires as Argentina hosted Serbia on a slow indoor clay court at the Tecnopolis. Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic did not travel, though he did keep in contact with the Serbia team from afar throughout the week. Serbia captain Bogdan Obradovic left out Janko Tipsarevic, his fitness for the best- of-five-set format still in doubt after only recently returning after an absence of almost 18 months with a foot injury. Instead, world No. 87 Filip Krajinovic was preferred, arriving in South America after winning a clay- court Challenger in Braunschweig. Argentina No. 1 Leonardo Mayer was too strong for Krajinovic, though, needing just 98 minutes to win 64 62 61. Viktor Troicki looked set to level the tie for Serbia at two sets up against Federico Delbonis, but the 24-year-old was inspired by the partisan home support as he fought back to win a five-set match for the first time in his career 26 26 64 64 62. Mayer and Carlos Berlocq then wrapped up a surprisingly comfortable victory for the hosts by beating DAVIS CUP BY BNP PARIBAS Leonardo Mayer won two matches in Argentina's victory Daniel Nestor and Adil Shamasdin in action for Canada Victor Troicki let slip a two-set lead as Serbia fell to Argentina The crowd in Belgium
