10 ITFWORLD SUMMER 2015 DAVIS CUP BY BNP PARIBAS I t was just five years ago that Great Britain was just one defeat away from dropping into the bottom tier of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas. Now Leon Smith's side find themselves just two tie wins away from claiming the famous trophy for the first time since 1936. A 5-0 win against Turkey at Eastbourne in July 2010 was the start of a remarkable journey to the semifinals. No team has ever progressed quicker than Great Britain from Euro/ Africa Zone Group II to the last four of the World Group, in which Australia now awaits in a mouth-watering heavyweight clash in September. It will be a third consecutive meeting for Great Britain against a fellow Grand Slam hosting country after first beating USA 3-1 in Glasgow in March and then overcoming a strong France team 3-1 at the Queen's Club in London in July's quarterfinals.
