SPRING 2014 34 ITFWORLD SPRING 2014 Kenny MacLeod joins the ITF in June as Executive Director, Commercial, replacing Jan Menneken in the role. MacLeod comes to the ITF from the Scottish Football Association where he was Commercial and Marketing Director from 2009 as well as Global Performance Consultant for FIFA from 2012. Prior to working for the Scottish FA, he was Commercial Manager for Celtic Football Club 2006-2009, and has also worked in the travel and airline industry and as a sports editor for publications in both Australia and Russia. NEWS ROuND-uP FRIEMEL SUCCEEDS MOLInA AS HEAD OF OFFICIATInG Dominic Anghileri joined the ITF as Executive Director, Finance and Administration, in February, replacing Gillian Burgess. Anghileri was previously at Britain's Royal Academy of Arts where he was Finance Director and Head of Operations from 1998. As well as his role as ITF Finance Director, Anghileri is responsible for areas such as Administration, ICT and Human Resources. Adecco signed a three-year extension in January to be international sponsor of Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas through 2016. Adecco, the Official HR Sponsor of Davis Cup and Fed Cup, has sponsored both competitions since the end of 2010, and also sponsored Davis Cup 2002-07. Adecco will continue to sponsor the on-court speed serve package for both competitions, and the new agreement will also see the return of the distinctive Adecco player benches. ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti said, "Adecco has been a loyal and hardworking partner of Davis Cup and Fed Cup, and we believe that these competitions are a perfect fit for a company that has enjoyed strong international growth since joining our family of sponsors." Long-time official Soeren Friemel has been appointed as ITF Head of Officiating, taking over from Enric Molina who left in April. Friemel has been an official since 1994, working as an umpire, referee and supervisor at Grand Slam tournaments, Davis Cup, Fed Cup and the Olympic Games. He has also taught officiating schools both for the ITF and for the Deutscher Tennis Bund (DTB). He has been responsible for officiating in Germany for 12 years. Molina will pursue a new career as CEO and Partner of Big Match Player, a new athlete management and sponsorship company, in partnership with Alex Corretja and based in Barcelona, Spain. The Spaniard started his professional career in officiating in 1997 working as a freelance chair umpire and joined the ITF/Grand Slam team in 2002. He officiated in four Davis Cup Finals, four Grand Slam singles finals, two Fed Cup Finals and two Olympic finals. NEW FINANCE DIRECTOR ANGHILERI IN PLACE ADECCO ExTENDS DAvIS CuP AND FED CuP SPONSOrSHIP MENNEKEN LEAVES THE INTErNATIoNAL TENNIS fEdErATIoN Jan Menneken left his position as ITF Executive Director, Commercial, in January after 17 years of service. He joined the ITF in July 1997 to head up the TV sales department and took over as Commercial Director in June 1999. During his tenure, he was responsible for bringing more than $500 million in commercial and television income to the ITF. This included the signing and renewal of BNP Paribas as title sponsor of Davis Cup and Fed Cup as well as other international sponsors and important television contracts around the world. mcleod named itf commercial director STEVE AyLES jOInS AS COMMERCIAL COnSULTAnT Steve Ayles joined the ITF in February as Executive Commercial Consultant for Asia-Pacific. Ayles, who will represent the ITF's commercial interests in the region, has held senior positions in sport for over 17 years, including his most recent position as Director of Commercial for Tennis Australia where he was responsible for the successful strategy for the growth of the Australian Open in the Asia-Pacific Region.
