2022 ITF Annual Review
21
Events
We invest in junior events in
loca ons around the world to ensure
that compe ve opportuni es are
offered as widely as possible, and
that talented players from all na ons
are iden fied.
Junior team compe ons for girls
and boys aged 12 and under were
held in five regions in 2022. These
events in Asia, Africa, Central America/
Caribbean, South America and Pacific
Oceania featured a record 660 players,
represen ng 94 na ons. They pave the
way for the best players to compete
in the future in our interna onal junior
team events, ITF World Junior Tennis
(14 and under) and Davis Cup Juniors
and Billie Jean King Cup Juniors
(16 and under).
With $218,000 of GSPDP financial
support, we also staged individual
regional championships at the 14-and-
under level, with a field of 247 players
from 94 na ons. The ITF supported
other regional events as ac vi es
returned to normal post-pandemic.
Our goal is to increase the number
of players and na ons compe ng.
At 2022 Wimbledon,
Elena Rybakina of
Kazakhstan defeated
Tunisia's Ons Jabeur
in a mee ng of
fellow former grant
recipients in the
women's final.
