87 ITF Women's Circuit EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS Extreme weather conditions shall be defined at such time that heat, as measured by a Heat Stress Monitor, meets or exceeds a heat stress index of 30.1 degrees Celsius/86.2 degrees Fahrenheit. If a Heat Stress Monitor is not available, extreme weather conditions are then defined by the danger zone which is equal to or above the apparent temperature of 93 degrees Fahrenheit, illustrated on the chart below. Heat stress is measured by Wet Bulb Global Temperature (WBGT) which is calculated as (0.7 Wet Bulb + 0.2 Global Temperature + 0.1 Dry Bulb = WBGT). If it is so determined, a ten (10) minute break will be allowed between the second and third sets. There may also be a delay in the starting time of the matches scheduled for play that day. When possible, this decision to delay the start of matches due to Extreme Weather Conditions should be made prior to the scheduled start of play. Measurement and Monitoring of Weather Conditions The Sports Medicine Trainer/PHCP will monitor weather conditions by taking measurements a minimum of three (3) times and a maximum of five (5) times during the day. The readings will be determined prior to the start of play and will be posted in the ITF Supervisor's office. The minimum of three readings will be taken: (1) ½ hour before match play begins for the day; (2) middle of the scheduled day; (3) prior to beginning of the last match of the day or prior to the start of the first night session match.
