22 Development Good coaching is essen al for growing tennis, from grassroots through to elite level. The ITF invests in providing educa on for coaches via face-to-face training courses, conferences, online sessions and tools, and publica ons. We offer coach training and cer fica on at four levels, and much of our coaching provision is powered by the ITF Academy pla orm. ITF Academy The ITF Academy is our online global home for tennis educa on and has grown rapidly in the last five years. By the end of 2023, the pla orm had more than 350,000 users, a 35% increase on 2022. In the last six months of the year, there were more than 3.3 million page views. Through the ITF Academy, coaches, players, parents, sports science prac oners and anyone with an interest in tennis can access more than 240 online courses, and a content library featuring 1,800 items including the ITF's coaching publica ons, conference videos and scien fic research papers. A record 400 blended learning programmes were delivered through the ITF Academy in 2023. These mix in-person with online sessions and consist of prac cal learning, workshops, conferences and courses. By the end of the year, 115 of our member Na onal Associa ons had signed up for ITF Academy membership plans, adop ng the pla orm as a centralised learning hub where they can host their own na onal coach cer fica on courses, educa on workshops and webinars. around the theme of player- centred coaching. There were contribu ons from 58 speakers and a record 38% of them were female, reflec ng the ITF's drive for more women to be represented in coaching as part of our Advantage All gender equality programme. These included keynote speaker Roberta Burzagli, former captain of Brazil's Billie Jean King Cup team. Coaching courses In 2023, we supported 65 in-person coaching courses organised by 53 Na onal Associa ons, and one virtual course for coaches in West and Central Asia. Fi een of these courses were funded by Olympic Solidarity (OS), a commission that provides support to all Na onal Olympic Commi ees for development programmes. Of these OS-funded courses, nine were regional technical New items added in 2023 included courses for ITF World Tennis Tour physiotherapists and trainers, an ITF Play Beach Tennis course, and a club managers course. We plan to add wheelchair courses, more beach tennis courses and officia ng content in 2024. ITF World Coaches Conference In 2023, the ITF World Coaches Conference took place in person for the first me since before the Covid-19 pandemic. Our flagship educa on event is held every two years, and the previous two edi ons took place online. Nearly 600 coaches represen ng 84 na ons travelled to the 2023 conference in Bogota, Colombia in October.
