2023 ITF Annual Review 45 Roland Garros hosts Roland Garros is staging both the tennis and wheelchair tennis compe ons, which means they are being contested on clay for the first me in 32 years. This is the first me that a Grand Slam venue is hos ng both Olympic and Paralympic tennis. In 2023 we made several site visits to Roland Garros for mee ngs with the Paris 2024 organisers and to finalise the venue plans, with requirements for an Olympic and Paralympic Games being very different to those of the regular Roland Garros tournament. We held our first mee ng with the Team Leaders of our member Na onal Associa ons at Roland Garros, and repeated these in 2024 to ensure that na ons understand the unique Games processes and therefore how best to support their athletes. Officia ng team ready Australia's Wayne McKewen and India's Ni n Kannamwar are the referees for the Olympic and Paralympic tennis events respec vely, supported by ITF Head of Officials, Iain Smith. For the first me, an equal number of women and men have been appointed to officiate as Interna onal Technical Officials at the Olympic and Paralympic tennis events. This important milestone for gender equality was reached with our Advantage All goals in mind. Interna onal Technical Officials represen ng 69 na ons – 109 individuals for the Olympics and 57 for the Paralympics – will officiate 208 Olympic matches and 144 Paralympic matches. The Interna onal Technical Officials include the referee, assistant referees, technical delegates, tournament control, chief, chair and line umpires and they will join forces with Na onal Technical Officials appointed by the French Tennis Federa on. THE GAMES ARE A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR PLAYERS EVERY FOUR YEARS, AND A SHOWCASE FOR TENNIS AT THE WORLD'S BIGGEST GLOBAL SPORT EVENT.
