2022 ITF Annual Review 34 TOURS AND PLAYER PATHWAY The thriving ITF World Tennis Masters Tour offers a range of playing opportuni es for men and women aged 30 and over to compete in tournaments all around the world. It is an important part of our mission to ensure that tennis is a sport that is played and enjoyed by everyone. Masters tennis a racts former professional players and amateurs alike, all keen to benefit from the compe ve opportuni es, camaraderie, travel, social interac on and other health and wellbeing benefits this global tour provides. Players can compete in team and individual singles, doubles and mixed doubles events, in age categories that increase in five-year increments from 30-plus to 90-plus. We provide opportuni es at all levels, from MT100 (entry level) through MT1000 (elite). At the pinnacle are the ITF Masters World Championships, providing interna onal team and individual compe on for players in all age categories. Formerly known as the ITF Seniors Tour, the tour was rebranded and renamed the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour in 2022, and launched at the 30-45 Masters World Championships in Lisbon, Portugal. An expanding community More people par cipated in Masters tennis than ever before in 2022. There were a record 35,557 individuals registered to play on our IPIN pla orm – a 47% increase on 2019. Of these, a record 30,643 people were ac ve during the year. We worked with Na onal Associa ons and tournament organisers to provide a record 508 tournaments. These were held in 61 countries, providing a record-breaking 72,242 matches (see graphic). Masters Tennis
