BNP Paribas World Team Cup
In 2021, we not only delivered
wheelchair tennis at the rescheduled
Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, but
also staged the BNP Paribas World
Team Cup, the wheelchair tennis
equivalent of the Davis Cup and
Billie Jean King Cup.
The event is held annually in a single
loca on over the course of a week,
and there are divisions for men,
women, quads and juniors. For the
2021 edi on, a record 36 na onal
teams took part in a combined regional
qualifying event held in Portugal
in May, ahead of the main event in
Sardinia, Italy in September.
To support the BNP Paribas World
Team Cup as both a playing and
development opportunity, we provided
27 teams with $75,000 of ITF grant
funding, which helped players and
na ons to travel and compete.
