ITF World Spring 2022 29 " ARGENTINA 4-0 CZECH REPUBLIC Under the stewardship of new captain Guillermo Coria, Argentina banished memories of their shock defeat to Colombia in the 2020 Qualifiers. Horacio Zeballos and Maximo Gonzalez, the only two members of the squad from that Colombia defeat to be invited back by Coria, completed the job in the doubles. There was also a debut singles win for Sebastian Baez. Representing my country was a moment I dreamed of when I was a child. It was very beautiful to play here at home with all the support of the fans, which always motivates me. Davis Cup is something different. The butterflies you get in your stomach are not the same as in other tournaments. BAEZ " KOREA, REPUBLIC 3-1 AUSTRIA Korea, Republic booked their place at the Finals for the first time after completing a comeback victory over Austria on the home soil of Seoul. Soonwoo Kwon was the star of the show as the 24-year-old claimed victory in both of his singles matches. I feel really great that we won. I trust Seung-Kyu Park, the team's captain, completely, and I also trust my team members and that was such a major factor in our victory. It all worked out perfectly. KWON " SPAIN 3-1 ROMANIA Carlos Alcaraz made a favourable impression in more ways than one as his impressive Davis Cup debut helped six-time champions Spain beat Romania and reach the Finals. The 18-year-old defeated Marius Copil, but it was his smart new haircut that proved the talk of Marbella. Making your Davis Cup debut is a special moment, and you have to look immaculate. I am super happy to get my first Davis Cup win and it's an honour to represent my country. Playing a competition like Davis Cup helps you to grow as a person and as a player. ALCARAZ DAVIS CUP
