Williams combined with her sister Venus to win the women's doubles gold medal, defeating Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of Czech Republic 75 64. It was a third Olympic doubles title for the sisters who also won gold at Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008. The bronze was awarded to the Russian pair of Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova, who upset the American duo of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond 46 64 61. The Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, who won the bronze medal in Beijing, took home the gold in London after they defeated the French team of Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 64 76 in the final. Another French pair, Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet, claimed the bronze after defeating Spain's David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez 76 62. hugely popular with the fans at the All England Club with a full house watching Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus defeat home favourites Andy Murray and Laura Robson for the gold medal. Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond won the bronze over Germany's Sabine Lisicki and Christopher Kas 63 46 [10-4]. Another new edition to the Olympic Tennis Event was the creation of the Tennis Family Lounge. An initiative of the ITF and the Lawn Tennis Association, this offered tennis family members a place to relax, have some refreshment and do some business. It was a major success and a similar facility is planned to be offered at Rio 2016. London 2012 saw the return of mixed doubles to the Olympic programme.
