ITFWorld // WINTER 2019 4 3
The ITF published the Global
Tennis Report 2019, the
largest survey of worldwide
tennis participation and
performance ever undertaken
in the sport, in October.
The report contains data gathered from 195
tennis nations to give a game-changing insight
into the global tennis landscape. Both global and
national findings are presented in the report, which
facilitate analysis of global and regional tends.
Key findings include:
•
87 million tennis players (1.17% of the
world's population)
•
71,263 tennis clubs
•
489,135 tennis courts
•
163,548 coaches
•
47% of players are female
Rankings and tournament data from the ITF's
database were also used to produce an accurate
and bespoke report into each nation's junior and
professional performance during 2017.
The report serves as a benchmark, enabling the ITF
to measure the impact of investment in growing
and retaining participation in the sport.
It will also support the targeting of future
investment in line with the priorities of the
ITF2024 strategy, growing tennis where it is most
needed and ensuring the long-term growth and
sustainability of tennis for future generations.
The report provides member nations with valuable
data in order to devise strategies to increase
participation and develop talent.
