They will join the two finalists from the 2019 competition – champions France and Australia – as well as hosts Hungary and Czech Republic. The eight losing nations will compete in the 2020 Fed Cup play-offs, which will be held during the same week as the Finals. The 12 losing nations will compete in World Group I ties in September 2020. The 12 winning nations from the World Group I Play-offs will compete in World Group I ties in September 2020 along with the losing nations from the Qualifiers. The losing nations from the World Group I Play-offs will compete in World Group II ties in September 2020, along with the winning nations from the World Group II Play-offs. Losing nations in the World Group II Play-offs will compete in regional Group III events in either June, July or September 2020. The Finals will be staged at the Laszlo Papp Budapest Sports Arena. Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Play-offs 17-18 April With the expansion of the elite level of the competition, the number of nations qualifying from the regional Group I events for the Fed Cup Play-offs has doubled from four to eight. These nations will face the eight losing nations from the Fed Cup Qualifiers to earn a place in next year's Qualifiers.
