The late Jana Novotna on the podium at

won a doubles silver medal at the same
Games alongside Helena Sukova, the
pair having previously won silver at
Seoul 1988. Novotna also represented
her country for 11 years in Fed Cup,
and was part of the 1988 winning
Czechoslovakian team. A holder of
16 Grand Slam doubles titles, she won
a much-cherished singles trophy at
Wimbledon in 1998. See also her
