REVIEW OF THE YEAR I 3 For a future historian, a look back at 2015 will offer much drama on the court with two players, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic, each winning three Grand Slam titles and coming oh so close to a fourth. For Williams, her loss in the US Open semifi nals to Italy's Roberta Vinci ended what seemed to be an unstoppable march to the calendar Grand Slam while Djokovic came close to a perfect score at the majors with his only loss in 28 matches coming against Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka in the Roland Garros fi nal. It was a stunning year for both of them and offered tennis fans around the world something extraordinary. In Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, Great Britain ended a 79-year wait by defeating Belgium to win the title. En route, Andy Murray was undefeated, winning eight singles and three doubles rubbers to help his team bring Dwight Davis's silver cup home to Britain. It was an emotional win for the British team who defeated three Grand Slam nations, USA, France and Australia, on their way to the Final. In Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, the Czechs cemented their reputation as one of the greatest teams in history by winning a fourth title in fi ve years and a ninth overall. The Final between the Czechs and Russia was decided by the doubles before a sold out crowd at Prague's O2 Arena. All of the ITF Circuits – Juniors, Wheelchair, Beach Tennis and Seniors as well as the ITF Pro Circuits – show the strength and depth of tennis around the world. Our other departments – Development, Coaching, Science & Technical, Offi ciating, Commercial and Television, Communications, Finance & Administration – are important components in the success of the ITF. Each has a great story to tell and I encourage you to read about each area in this report. (Continued overleaf) Review of the Year by ITF President David Haggerty
