199 L ucie: After the semis when we won the last point, it was an amazing feeling that we had won a great medal from the Olympics. In the final it was like, "Okay, we have a medal, but it doesn't matter. It will be gold or silver." When we stepped on the podium on Centre Court, it was a great feeling as well. But I think the emotion after the semis was the strongest feeling. Andrea: It was the most amazing feeling I have ever had on a tennis court, especially while still being in the tournament. It was not like it was the last point of the tournament. We knew there was one more match ahead, but we knew we had the most important thing which was a medal from the Olympic Games. We cried a lot. There were a lot of happy tears after that one. I couldn't even stop. It was really strong. We were a bit lucky because we came in not thinking we were big favourites, even though during the Olympics we kind of realised it because all the media were telling us. I think we both came to London to enjoy the Olympics. We had played in the final of Wimbledon two weeks before, so we were very confident and we just came to enjoy. Then round by round we were getting closer and we were thinking, "Oh my god, this might happen," and then started being nervous. Lucie: We celebrated in the Olympic Village with all the other athletes in our apartment. Andrea: And in the Czech house. That was a very good atmosphere. We had a beautiful Czech house made for the whole Olympics and they always invited the athletes who made the top eight positions, so of course coming there with a medal was huge. There were thousands of people waiting for us. Lucie: I think it's similar to the Grand Slams, maybe a little bit more on top. The Olympics in London is not every year and it's something special, so it's a very great memory and I think I will remember the feeling of the Olympics for my whole life. Andrea: We really enjoyed everything about it. We stayed in the Village. We travelled over every day. It was so far but worth it. We saw Usain Bolt, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. We saw so many athletes. I was the photo idiot who runs around and asks for pictures. We went to the opening ceremony. We were all in a loop there and I had to go backwards through all those countries to find Bolt, all the way from Czech Republic to Jamaica, and then I found him and he was there with six bodyguards. Lucie: There were loads of guys around Bolt and he was on the phone, so there was no chance of taking a picture. Andrea: For London, we qualified at the last minute and I think that was the key to coming there without pressure, without expectations and that was why we succeeded. So we don't need to put so much pressure on ourselves. We enjoyed one Olympics and if another one happens, we will be very happy. Because the Czech Republic had a Top 10 doubles player, Kveta Peschke, she could have gone and picked one of us. Instead, she gave us her spot and said that we should go together instead of her playing at the Olympics. That was an amazing gesture. No one would ever expect that from anybody. It was the best news. the most which was a Olympic Games. We qualified at the last minute and I think that was the key to coming there without pressure, without expectations.
