OBITUARIES 37 Eduardo Moliné O'Connor ITF Honorary Life Counsellor Eduardo Moliné O'Connor died on 21 August aged 76. Moliné O'Connor was a board member of the Argentine Tennis Association from 1982 to 2005 and served as Vice President of the South American Tennis Confederation from 1986 to 1990. He was Vice President and board member of the ITF from 1987-2005, member and Director of the Hall of Fame from 1993-2003 and an ITF Olympic Committee member from 1987-2005. He was also a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport from 1998-2006. Roberto Nappo Long-time tennis journalist and broadcaster Roberto Nappo passed away on 9 June in Buenos Aires. Nappo had worked for the BBC since 1979, covering his first Wimbledon in 1985 and the rest of the Grand Slams since 1994. A radio reporter for several stations in Argentina, he also wrote for the Buenos Aires Herald, contributed to numerous others, and in 2008 published the book "Faltó la Reina Madre" – a collection of interviews he carried out during his career. Ross Sceats Ross Sceats passed away on 7 April aged 35. Sceats was a Gold Badge Chief Umpire and Silver Badge Referee. He fought a brain tumour for nearly ten years but continued working at many ITF Pro Circuit and other tennis events during this time. Henry Talbert Henry Talbert passed away on 12 January. Talbert had a 39-year career with the USTA, ultimately becoming Executive Director of the Southern California Tennis Association in 1997 – a position he held until he retired in 2013. Talbert received the prestigious Gussy Moran Humanitarian Award in 2013 for his achievements and contributions to tennis in the United States. Ian Wells Ian Wells died on 4 January aged 76. Wells was head of New Zealand Tennis, chairman of Cricket Wellington and a former general manager of The Dominion Post. His involvement with New Zealand Tennis started in the 1970s and he served as chairman of the national body for 20 years. He was honoured with an ITF Award for Services to the Game in 1985. Eberhard Wensky Eberhard Wensky died on 5 July aged 74. Wensky was tournament and club director of the LTTC "Rot-Weiss" for many years. He was a Berlin Champion in junior and men's tennis and won the German Championship as member of the men's Rot-Weiss team in 1967. He became the club's director in 1969 and under his management the club once again became one of the leading tennis clubs in Germany. Shirley Woodhead Shirley Woodhead died at her home in Wimbledon on 10 June. Woodhead was the first-ever employee of the ITF, playing a variety of roles that included General Secretary and Executive Director of Administration.
