8 ITFWORLD WINTER 2014 B oB AND mIke BryAN have made a habit of knocking down milestones in their illustrious 16-year doubles career, and 2014 was no exception. In a season in which they won ten more titles, the twins' crowning moment came at the US Open, where they captured their 16th Grand Slam title and 100th team title overall. The pair reached their first final of the year in Memphis, before launching into a 24-match winning streak which saw them win five titles — in Delray Beach, Indian Wells, Miami, Houston and Monte Carlo — and finish runner-up in Madrid. The Bryans were unsuccessful in defence of their Australian Open and Roland Garros titles but reached their first Grand Slam final of the season at Wimbledon, where they got heartbreakingly close to retaining their crown before losing in a five-set thriller to Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock. Back home in the USA, the Bryans rebounded by winning in Cincinnati, then made their run to their historic 100th title, defeating Marcelo Granollers and Marc Lopez 63 64 in the US Open final. They added three more to finish 2014 with a staggering 103 career titles, lifting trophies in Shanghai — where they secured the year-end doubles team ranking — Paris, and the year-end ATP World Tour Finals in London. The evergreen brothers are ITF World Champions for an 11th season, an achievement unmatched by anyone except Esther Vergeer, who was Wheelchair World Champion 13 times. The Bryans have received the honour in all but one year since they were first given it in 2003. ITF WORLD CHAMPIONS M E N ' S D O U B L E S W O R L D C H A M P I O N S
