Our goal is to make Masters tennis the leading sport in terms of participation, and through it to promote the health and social benefits of our sport for people of all ages and levels. Player boom World Tennis is in the last year of a three-year strategic plan to accelerate the number of tournaments, players and matches available on the World Tennis Masters Tour. In 2025, for the fourth successive year, we set new records in all these areas, headlined by 651 tournaments in 75 nations. The number of matches played on the Tour exceeded 100,000 for the first time (see right). We are aiming to set a new record in 2026, as more men and women get involved in a Tour which offers six levels of tournaments from entry level to elite. There are a record 54,000 people registered to play Masters tennis at time of publication. For the past three years we have focused on increasing playing opportunities in Asia, with great success. The number of active Asian players increased by 26% in 2025 to 8,589 by year-end, and 11 nations in the region hosted Masters tournaments. Asia is now the second- largest Masters region with 130 tournaments last year, representing growth of 122% growth in just two years. More growth ahead The spotlight will shift to increasing playing opportunities outside Europe and Asia from 2027. World Tennis will also look to expand competition in the younger age groups (30, 35, 40, 45), doubles events and players, and women's participation. A record 10,598 women competed in Masters Tennis in 2025, but as they accounted for 25% of total players there is demonstrable room for growth. A new Women's Participation Advisory Group was established in 2026 to support the Masters team and Committee We are continuing to significantly expand Masters tennis, which offers competitive opportunities around the world for amateur players age 30-100 years.
