Paralympic Tennis Event Held in August less than four weeks a er the Olympics, the Paralympic Tennis Event was a thrilling showcase for wheelchair tennis. A strong entry list featured 95 athletes from 28 na ons. Paralympic tennis was one of the most popular sports of the Games, which as a whole were the most viewed in history, with audiences around the world watching 763.3 million hours of live television coverage. All 200,000 ckets placed on public sale were sold, and there were full stands on all 10 match courts. In front of raucous crowds, the players thrived in the spotlight. For many, it was their first me playing on the clay of Roland Garros. Japan topped the medal table, collec ng three gold medals as Yui Kamiji and Tokito Oda won in singles, and Kamiji repeated in women's doubles with Manami Tanaki. Oda, at just 18 years and 123 days, became the youngest Paralympic wheelchair tennis men's singles champion in history. Great Britain's Alfie Hewe and Gordon Reid took gold in the men's doubles and became the first team in wheelchair tennis history to complete the career Golden Slam. In the quad category, Netherlands' Niels Vink won quad doubles gold with Sam Schroder, before winning singles gold by defea ng Schroder. Eight na ons were represented on the podium, as the footprint of wheelchair tennis con nues to grow around the world. Four countries claimed their first Paralympic medals at Paris 2024: Argen na, China, South Africa and Spain. The ITF's Paralympic digital channels performed be er than ever before. Our content was seen nearly 20 million mes, and there were 9 million video views of Paralympic content on ITF social channels. Our website gained 281,000 new users during the Games. Towards LA 2028 The success of tennis and wheelchair tennis at Paris 2024 will help us deliver our ITF2024+4 strategy over the next three years as we look towards the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. Planning and collabora on with all stakeholders for Los Angeles 2028 is already underway. 19
