Over half the world's popula on engaged with the Olympic and Paralympic Games via broadcast or digital, demonstra ng their power as a global pla orm for tennis. Paris 2024 marked the second me in Olympic history that a Grand Slam venue had been used for the tennis event, and the first me in Paralympic history. The events' successful staging was a culmina on of several years of work and collabora on between the ITF, the French Tennis Federa on, the Paris 2024 organising commi ee and the IOC. Olympic Tennis Event Tennis was front and centre of the Paris 2024 Games from the opening ceremony onwards, in which legends and Olympic medallists Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Amelie Mauresmo had prominent roles as torch bearers. Seven weeks a er hos ng its regular Grand Slam tournament, Roland Garros was transformed with Paris 2024 branding for the first Olympic Tennis Event to be played on clay in 32 years. Across the five Olympic events of men's and women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles, 174 athletes competed for 41 na ons. Rain caused play on the opening day to be restricted to the roofed Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen courts and created an early scheduling challenge for the ITF. Fine weather therea er ensured play was completed in nine days as scheduled, with memorable matches in front of sell-out crowds. The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Tennis Events were high points of 2024, with matches played in front of packed crowds at the iconic venue of Roland Garros. Olympic and Paralympic Games Overall, 328,000 ckets were sold for the Olympic Tennis Event; there were two sessions available on the main Philippe Chatrier court for the first seven days, and one session for the final weekend. Zheng Qinwen won China's first OIympic tennis singles gold medal, watched by an astonishing 30 million TV viewers back home. And in his fourth Games, 24- me Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic finally claimed his longed-for Olympic gold medal. Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini made history for Italy, winning their na on's first-ever tennis gold in women's doubles. There were thrilling medal matches in men's doubles and mixed doubles, with Australians Ma Ebden and John Peers, and Czechia's Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac winning gold respec vely. Other highlights that drew ecsta c crowds included the marquee doubles partnership of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, the eventual singles silver medallist, and the re ring two- me Olympic champion Andy Murray's never-say-die pairing with Dan Evans. All the players spoke posi vely about the amazing atmosphere generated by the fans at Roland Garros, and about their Olympic experiences generally. The ITF's digital audience for the Olympics was our highest ever. Content on ITF social channels was viewed nearly 80 million mes, and we gained over 34,000 new followers. The ITF website saw more than 435,000 new users during the Olympic period.
