What counts as 'southern Africa'?
The ITF works closely with
its six affiliated regional
associations for the
development of tennis
around the world, including
the Confederation of
African Tennis (CAT).
Southern Africa is one
of five zones on the
continent of Africa.
The development region
consists of all the countries
south of a line made up of
Angola, Zambia and Malawi,
plus two of the three islands
to the east of the mainland:
Madagascar and Mauritius
(the third, La RĂ©union, counts
as French territory so is
administered from Paris).
The mainland countries
are Angola, Botswana,
Eswatini (formerly
Swaziland), Lesotho, Malawi,
Mozambique, Namibia,
South Africa, Zimbabwe
and Zambia.
