ALFIE HEWETT INTERVIEW Alfie Hewett's on-court variety and expressive game have won him fans around the world and seven Grand Slam singles titles. The British world No. 2 talks to Gemma Stevenson about the growing profile of wheelchair tennis, his rivalry with Tokito Oda and his chances of Paralympic gold. A player with all the "weapons, heart and determination" needed to reach the top of the game, Alfie Hewett has played and impressed on some of the biggest stages in the world. Including most recently on Wimbledon's No. 1 Court where he, alongside doubles partner Gordon Reid, had the crowd up on their feet in appreciation for the quality of tennis they were playing. "It's been a lot of fun this grass court season," he said. "We've got so much more visibility for our sport and that's so important not just for us as athletes but also for developing wheelchair tennis at grassroots level. "I think it's been a step in the right direction and hopefully what we've seen this year can become the norm as the sport is now being thrown into a different sort of spotlight than I've ever seen before. "When I was coming through as a junior and watching other players play Grand Slams, the matches were hidden away on the outer courts so we maybe dreamed of being on like court 70.
