2021 ITF Annual Review 7 RENEWED FOCUS the Olympics are crucial: in 2021, they contributed revenue of $55 million, which was invested back into the sport. To ensure the future viability of Billie Jean Cup and Davis Cup, we recognised there was a need for change, and we consulted widely with the global tennis family to review and make amendments to the structure of these historic compe ons. Our decisions were made to ensure player welfare and equal opportuni es, meet fan expecta ons, and to elevate the events' status as the women's and men's World Cup of Tennis in order to a ract increased broadcast and commercial opportuni es. The work remains ongoing. Significant change rarely runs smoothly, and it is important that our decisions are guided by the majority feedback of players and Na onal Associa ons and with the long-term interests of our sport at heart. In 2022, we want to further enhance the ITF World Tennis Tour, which is the main artery of the interna onal player pathway and the breeding ground for future stars. The World Tennis Tour feeds the elite levels of the game: the Grand Slam tournaments, the WTA and ATP tours and the na onal teams compe ng in the Billie Jean King Cup, Davis Cup and Olympic Games. The 2022 tour consists of around 1,000 tournaments across the world, giving talented players from all na ons opportuni es to compete, improve their skillset and progress up the pathway. The ITF has ambi ous plans and there is much work s ll to do, but there are exci ng mes ahead for tennis. We con nue, through ITF2024, to grow revenues and invest back via our member na ons to make the sport stronger for future genera ons. It is a privilege to work with the global tennis family to ensure we achieve this.
