DEVELOPMENT It all starts with picking up a tennis racket, and we want another 30 million people to be playing tennis by 2030. In 2021, the ITF supported interna onal grass roots tennis development in several different ways. Junior Tennis Ini a ve (JTI) The Junior Tennis Ini a ve (JTI) is the ITF's global na onal junior development programme that introduces children aged 14 and under to the sport. The ini a ve provides children across the world with the opportunity to pick up a racket for the first me and play in JTI compe ons. It is the launch point for many aspiring compe ve players and a pla orm to introduce talent to the game. The JTI supports Na onal Associa ons with resources to ensure their programmes nurture players so they have more chance of making their way up the player pathway. Despite ongoing challenges with Covid-19, ac vi es as part of the JTI con nued to increase in 2021.
