30 • ITF Global Tennis Report 2021 MAIN DRAW REPRESENTATION The number of players to have competed in at least one Grand Slam tournament main draw, as a direct acceptance, qualifier, lucky loser, alternate or with a protected ranking, during the period 1 January to 31 December 2019. Wild cards and special exempts (for juniors) are not included in the count. Juniors* • USA had the highest propor on of players (16.9%) in junior Grand Slam tournament main draws. • Three-quarters of players who played in a junior Grand Slam tournament main draw in 2019 were from 18 na ons. • A total of 207 players from 51 na ons contested junior Grand Slam tournament main draws. • In 2019, Europe had more players in junior Grand Slam tournament main draws than any other region – 55.1%. See Fig 30 Professionals* • Over half of the players compe ng in Grand Slam tournament main draws in 2019 were from 8 na ons. • USA was the most represented na on in Grand Slam tournament main draws, with 13.4% of players. • 336 players from 54 na ons were represented in Grand Slam tournament main draws. • Almost two-thirds (65.2%) of players in Grand Slam tournament main draws were from Europe. QUALIFYING DRAW REPRESENTATION The number of players to have competed in at least one Grand Slam tournament qualifying draw, as a direct acceptance or alternate, during the period 1 January to 31 December 2019. Wild cards and lucky losers are not included in the count. Juniors** • In 2019, players from 24 na ons contested the qualifying draws at junior Grand Slam tournaments, with players from 5 na ons making up 56.2% of the draws. • Great Britain had the highest propor on of players in both male (14.7%) and female (25.6%) junior Grand Slam tournament qualifying draws. • Over half (53.4%) of players in junior Grand Slam tournament qualifying draws were from Europe. See Fig 32 Professionals** • Players from 53 na ons competed in Grand Slam tournament qualifying draws in 2019, with half of them coming from 10 na ons. • USA had the highest propor on of female players (8.6%) and Italy the highest propor on of male players (9.9%) in Grand Slam tournament qualifying draws. • More than 60% of players in Grand Slam tournament qualifying draws were from Europe.
