ITF World Spring 2021 33
An important milestone
on the ITF's journey to
increase the global tennis
playing population to 120
million by 2030 has been
reached, with more than
100 nations signed up to
launch ITF World Tennis
Number from 2021.
The nations which have
signed up to roll out the
platform at a national level
span six continents and
account for a combined
68 million tennis players
– approximately 78 per
cent of the world's playing
population.
The Singapore Tennis
Association became the
first national federation to
formally adopt the platform
in January and is soon to be
followed by Tennis Ireland
and the LTA.
Following successful trials
in these countries over
the past couple of months
– essential in providing
data and insight into the
performance of the algorithm
– the platform will now be
rolled out to players across
many other nations.
ITF World Tennis Number
will launch to national
association-registered
players from this spring, while,
from the summer, it will be
opened to recreational players
all around the world.
