ITF World Winter 2020 05 2021: Lead the Return to Tennis In the second half of 2020, Europe led the way in hosting events as Covid-19 conditions were more under control and restrictions were lifted, enabling players to travel and compete. In 2021, if we can continue with tournaments in the nations and regions that were hosting in the second half of 2020, and then have other regions added to the calendar, we will provide many more playing opportunities. We want to see international tennis played in every country around the world as soon as possible in a safe manner. That said, there is no magic switch to be flicked in January 2021 which will return us to where we were in January of this year. We must be ready to be proactive in order to run our events in 2021. The tennis community expects that and the ITF must do all it can to deliver that vision. Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas One of the most inspiring announcements of 2020 was the successful rebranding of Fed Cup to Billie Jean King Cup. Billie Jean King is a legend of our sport, a champion on court and the most decorated player in the history of the tournament which now bears her name. But more than that, she is a global icon in the fight for equality and inclusion. There is nobody more deserving than she of having the women's world cup of tennis named after her, and as you will see from the special feature on pages 14-17, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the announcement. I can assure you that the ITF is doing all it can to see our competitions return in 2021 and we are very excited as the countdown to Billie Jean King Cup action continues, including the Finals in April. " The ITF has put itself in the best position to continue growing the game of tennis together with our member nations."
