ITF WORLD TENNIS NUMBER ITF World Winter 2020 19 ITF World Tennis Number – a bold digital project that will establish a single global tennis rating for players of all ages, genders and abilities – will be launched from January. More than just a sports application, ITF World Tennis Number has been specifically developed to drive participation by creating the world's largest community of tennis players, enabling more people at all levels to play and enjoy our sport. The innovative platform will make it easier than ever for players of all abilities to find and play opponents that are evenly matched to them, wherever they are in the world. By using player data, match results and a host of groundbreaking features, ITF World Tennis Number will not only create exciting playing experiences but take the concept of tennis ratings to Game zONe, which is set to revolutionise the sport at the recreational level. A player's personalised Game zONe identifies a range of potential opponents whose Numbers are close to their own on the scale, ensuring the best possible experience on court. Player benefits ITF World Tennis Number is a universal scale which players can use to find their perfect match wherever they are in the world. It is easy to use new heights. As the collective digital tool of the ITF's member nations around the world, ITF World Tennis Number will also provide invaluable support to the development strategies of national associations as it becomes the standard benchmark for tennis players worldwide. It has the potential to drive huge growth in participation and be a major contributing factor in the ITF achieving its target of 120 million people – another 30 million – playing the sport by 2030. How it will work The ITF World Tennis Number scale goes from 40-1, with a complete beginner starting at 40 and the world's best being rated at 1. Players can gradually improve their Number as they play. The scale also includes a unique new feature called and will provide a Number for singles and a Number for doubles. A player's Number will be calculated on a weekly basis and, as they compete and enter their results, they can gradually start to improve their rating. And because a player's Number is calculated by sets won, even if matches are lost, Numbers can still be improved. As well as statistics to help players track and improve their own game, there is also the mechanism for them to analyse opponents through win/ loss ratios and head-to-head comparisons. ITF World Tennis Number aims to make tennis more accessible to all and create exciting playing experiences, enabling users to make global comparisons while also finding evenly-matched opponents local to them. n ITF World Tennis Number will enable players to find their perfect match wherever they are in the world ITF WORLD TENNIS NUMBER Further information on ITF World Tennis Number, including an FAQs page, helpful information, key benefits and details of how to get involved, is available here CLICK FOR VIDEO
