ITF World Spring 2020 05 the number of women standing for election at the next ITF Presidential and Board elections, while we are encouraging National Associations to increase their board's recruitment of women for better balance. We all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive environment and I am proud that tennis is continuing to lead by example. Acknowledging greatness Around this time, thoughts turn towards the Philippe Chatrier Award – the highest accolade the ITF bestows upon an individual or organisation. This year, there are two recipients and during 2020 the ITF will be toasting the careers of Manolo Santana and Fred Stolle, both of whom have done so much for tennis. From a tennis perspective, Manolo is the first king of Spain. His Grand Slam and Davis Cup achievements are outstanding and when we observe interactions between him and Rafael Nadal, another Spanish great, you see the respect which Rafa has for such an inspirational figure who has mentored so many Spanish players. Similar sentiments apply to Fred Stolle. Fred was a tremendous player and won many Grand Slam titles, principally in doubles and mixed doubles, while he represented Australia in Davis Cup with class and distinction. Through his media and commentary work, he has continued to support tennis and be a positive voice for the game. He is also someone who has made significant contributions to the grassroots of the sport. We look forward to honouring the achievements of Manolo, Fred and all the 2019 ITF World Champions in due course. n Above President David Haggerty and the ITF Board at their most recent mee ng in Lausanne, Switzerland " We all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive environment and I am proud that tennis is continuing to lead by example."
