ITFWorld // SPRING 2019 05 we saw a huge leap of engagement on social media. The ITF is working hard to achieve its ambition to grow the size of the World Group and to unlock the Fed Cup's full potential and value with a reform from 2020. HOPMAN CUP FUTURE Another team competition, the Hopman Cup, was in sharp focus in March when the ITF confirmed an arrangement for Tennis Australia to terminate the licensing agreement for the tournament. The unique mixed men's and women's tournament has a great history and this year's event, during which a record 14,064 supporters watched Roger Federer and Serena Williams play mixed doubles, was incredible. The ITF is committed to continuing this event and the search for a new tournament partner is underway. We are in discussions with a number of great potential cities interested in hosting a competition which has proven so popular with male and female players, sponsors, broadcasters and fans for three decades. A WORTHY WINNER I would like to end this message by pointing to our cover star Gabriela Sabatini, who will be presented with the ITF's highest accolade, the Philippe Chatrier Award, at the ITF Champions Dinner during Roland Garros. Gaby is such a great spokesperson for tennis and her on-court achievements and her sizeable contribution to the wider tennis family are profiled in the pages immediately following my message. ITF President David Haggerty with, to his left, Junior Australian Open girls' winner Clara Tauson and, to her left, runner- up Leylah Annie Fernandez What do you think of ITFWorld? The ITF is currently conducting a survey in relation to ITFWorld and we would like to know what our readers think of the magazine, which will help us to shape future editions of the publication. To take the survey, please visit: www.itftennis.com/news/299373.aspx She has always been such a humble champion and approachable person and, having known her when she was an upcoming player through my work with tennis equipment manufacturer Prince, we reconnected at last year's Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. Along with David Nalbandian, Gaby was an Athlete Role Model there; she did a fantastic job and was an inspiring presence for the boys and girls. We very much look forward to honouring Gaby in Paris. ■
