ROUND-UP NEWS S P R I N G 2 0 1 9 N E W S 40 ITFWorld // SPRING 2019 Frenchman Damien Dumusois was appointed to the ITF/Grand Slam Officiating Team, while he will also be working in the role of Regional Officiating Officer for Africa, in February. A Gold Badge Chair Umpire, Dumusois has officiated at the pinnacle of the sport, having occupied the umpire's chair for four men's singles finals at Roland Garros, as well as the women's final in 2010. He also umpired the 2017 men's singles final at Wimbledon, as well as a number of Grand Slam doubles finals. In his role as Regional Officiating Officer, Dumusois is the point of contact for French-speaking countries in Africa and works alongside fellow Regional Officiating Officer Iain Smith in managing the officiating programme for Africa. Upon his appointment, Dumusois said: "I'm very much looking forward to working together with CAT and the African National Officiating Managers in my new role as Regional Officiating Officer. Together with ITF Officiating and Iain, we will try to provide opportunities and create a pathway for African officials." Dumusois has been a Gold Badge umpire since 2010, when he subsequently became part of the International Joint Team and ATP Elite Team. An ATP employee from 2015-2018, Dumusois chaired more than 100 finals across singles and doubles and was twice selected for the ATP finals in London. "Damien is a highly qualified official with a vast amount of experience," said Smith. "It's a positive step to have Damien as part of the team to continue developing African officiating." Dumusois named Regional Officiating Officer for Africa The ITF announced four appointments to the independent ITF Ethics Commission, which was established by the ITF Board in November 2018, in March. Jack Anderson (Oceania), Brian Havill (Europe), David Howman (Oceania) and Urvasi Naidoo (Europe/ Africa) were all appointed to the Ethics Commission, effective 15 February 2019. The appointments were made by the chair of the Commission, Sandra Osborne QC, who took up her role on 1 December 2018. Three Crowns LLP, meanwhile, were appointed as Legal Secretary and provide the Commission with legal and administrative support. ITF President David Haggerty said: "Integrity and development are key priorities for the ITF and our ITF2024 strategy to grow and strengthen our sport.
