Musetti, who laughed off suggestions he possessed a high-end luxury sports car despite the lack a driving licence, was pushed to the limit by No. 13 seed Emilio Nava in the Australian Open boys' final on Rod Laver Arena. Top seed Musetti was forced to save a championship point before clinching a deciding 10-point tiebreak, becoming just the fifth Italian boy to win a junior Grand Slam and first since Gianluigi Quinzi at Wimbledon in 2013. Nava had already saved three championship points of his own when he overcooked a forehand, allowing Musetti to drop to the court in celebration, safe in the knowledge he had exorcised the ghost of his US Open final defeat in September. "I was not thinking, I was just playing – living every point," said Musetti, who won the finale 4-6 6-2 7-6(12). "It was a fantastic tiebreak. Emilio played really well and saved three match points.
